AHRC SENDS CONDOLENCES FOR THE LOSS OF IRC COLLEAGUES IN SYRIA/TURKEY EARTHQUAKE

The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have created a crisis within multiple crises.


ALREADY THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE IN FORCED DISPLACEMENT IN AND FROM THESE COUNTRIES WERE AT BARELY COPE PROPORTIONS . At this time over 19,000 deaths have been reported.


AHRC is deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of colleagues from The International Rescue Committee- IRC. We send condolences to family, friends, refugee community and all at IRC. May their memories be a blessing.


The International Rescue Committee confirmed that two of their colleagues in northwest Syria have died as a result of Monday’s earthquake: "Our colleagues Mohamed Shaabouk and Rowaida Glelate tragically passed away in their respective homes. They were committed and passionate individuals and were continuously focused on improving the lives of vulnerable people caught up in the Syrian crisis.

The IRC is heartbroken over the loss of our colleagues and will work to support our staff and their families during this terrible time.


The IRC has been working in Syria since 2012, responding to needs in the northwest and northeast of the country."
