Honoring Women Refugees on International Women's Day

Today we celebrate International Women's Day - and we especially honor Women Refugees in Africa and around the World, for their resilience and courage: Women refugees are attempting to escape all forms of discrimination and persecution - gender violence, genital mutilation, war, religious persecution, as well as violence and persecution related to sexual orientation and gender identity. It is on this day that we note with deep regret and sadness the failure of the American Government under the Donald Trump Administration to consider the safety and interests of women refugees and their children through the severely onerous and detrimental 120 suspension of the US Refugee Program, as well as the Muslim Ban. For as long as we reject and suspend their needs - we in effect continue to foster the trauma.
