Today is International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT). African Human Rights Coalition is calling upon all people, organizations, State institutions, and Governments to adhere to their human rights treatise and declarations, to preserve the basic human rights and observe the laws that protect all people. To this end for those who criminalize sexuality and gender identity, thereby tacitly approving the resulting violence on sexual minorities, we are asking that all discriminatory and persecutory Colonial laws and their successors laws, be abolished. We are asking that governments end the corruption that allows violence and persecution to go unfettered.
